The Key is Immersion

Has breakthrough in a certain area of your life felt like it has been just out of reach for a long time? It might be your finances, your health or some other area. Whatever it is, you've felt as though no matter what you do, you can't get this area of your life to change and the promises to manifest. You might have been seeking breakthrough for years - or even decades - yet it feels like nothing is budging! God says today that the key is immersion, and I believe what I'm about to share in this blog has the potential to turn your whole life around!

For me, the area that just was not shifting when He started speaking to me about this key, was finances! While there had been some growth and improvement over the years and I certainly wasn't in the same place financially, I still hadn't seen the manifestation of the promises of the Kingdom in this area. I knew that the Word promised me an abundant life with more than enough financially, but I was not experiencing the overflow.

As I was on a date with Holy Spirit at the creek one day, asking Him about it and wondering why I'd not seen the breakthrough I'd been seeking, He spoke these words to me: THE KEY IS IMMERSION.

He reminded me of testimonies I had heard in the past, such as Creflo Dollar locking himself away in his room for five days after receiving a bad health report. He kept immersing Himself in the Word until the revelation of his healing become absolutely real to him and he emerged unshakeable in his faith and healed in the natural. Or Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, who God called to preach the uncompromised Word of faith on every available voice from the top of the world to the bottom and all the way round, yet at the time they were in debt and didn't own a thing! They listened to every tape by Kenneth Hagin and attended his ten day faith seminars so they could immerse themselves in faith - not only once a year, but he ran these once every quarter! How many people do you know who would go to one ten day seminar to see the promises of God manifest in their lives, let alone four of them per year! But then again, how many people do you see walking in victory? Kenneth and Gloria Copeland and their family are.

I felt as though the Lord said that everyone wants the testimony of these life stories, but how many will immerse themselves to receive it?

As the Lord reminded me of these testimonies, I started to feel a real sense of excitement in my heart as I realised He'd actually used this key to move me forward in some significant things in my life. Early in my walk with Him, He had shown me how essential it was to truly receive a revelation of His love. He directed me to scriptures, which I wrote out as confessions, and He told me to stay on this subject until I knew that I knew that I knew that He loved me and that what He would do for others, He would also do for me (email me at connect@unlockedcoachin.net.au if you would like a copy of those scriptures I meditated on). Do you want to know how long I did that for? One full year!

Another time, He directed me to focus on one topic for a full year was when I said to Him, 'What we're doing as a body isn't working! What is it going to take to see your Kingdom expand?' and He said to me, 'Societal Transformation', then directed me to learn from people such as Ed Silvoso and Johnny Enlow, and to discover what were the keys which have always preceded revival and transformation in the world. This is where He birthed the revelations of oneness and global transformation to my heart, which have totally changed every aspect of my life and how I minister to others.

I knew the key of immersion worked and He was simply giving me an invitation to apply it again, this time to see breakthrough in something that I knew would make the biggest impact in my life. So I heard His strategy for how to immerse myself daily (morning and night), and four months later, things were shifting financially in my life to a level that I had never seen before. It was so exciting!

It will be exciting for you to watch, too! He is giving you the same invitation today, to change what is not lining up with the Kingdom of God in your life. Will you take it?

Your Heart is Your Change Agent

Why is immersion so important? Because immersing yourself in the Word of God changes what is written on your heart. It's your heart that carries what you believe to be true about you, Go and the promises and the situations in your life. Everything you experience flows through your heart, and these beliefs. Your heart will either believe truth that is in alignment with your new man, or it will believe lies that are in alignment with your old man. Whatever you believe is where your life will go. After all, as you think in your heart, so are you (Prov 23:7).

The problem is that there are so many voices competing for our heart. Our circumstances are trying to scream that they carry the truth of our situation. Other people speak to us out of their emotions and based on what they can see in the natural. Yet God is the one who speaks those things which be not as though they are, and calls nonexistent things into existence (Rom 4:17). He says that the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal (2 Cor 4:18). In other words, what He has promised us and what Jesus has bought for us on the cross are our reality. Until our heart is fully persuaded (Rom 4:21), we'll never be able to agree with His truth in the midst of the myriad of voices speaking the opposite to us, but once our hearts have become fully persuaded, there's nothing which can stop these Kingdom promises from becoming reality in our lives, because it's God Himself who has promised them to us.

What God wants most of all for us is that we would live the abundant life that Jesus has died for us to live (John 10:10). We hear this in the heart of John, who prayed:

We also hear a key in here, which is that we're only going to prosper in every area of our lives, when our soul (our mind, will and emotions) prospers. How do we prosper in our soul? By hearing the Word of God about the promises, meditating on it, seeing ourselves in the promises, taking focussed action as the Lord leads, and bringing our souls into full agreement with the Spirit of Truth who lives within us. Living in the promises must become real for us.

What you've been doing in the past has only changed your heart to the degree that you're living in right now. Whatever the circumstaces of your life, they represent what is going on in your heart. So if you're not seeing the promises come into reality, it begs the question, what is your heart really believing? And if your heart is not really believing the truth of God's word to you, then what is it going to take to pour truth into every crevice of your life, until every part of you believes it?

The Power of Focus

The answer is immersion. We have to immerse our hearts in truth in order for that truth to become part of us. But what does immersing ourselves actually mean? What does it look like? I believe that this key of immersion is actually the product of three things - the first being focus.

Focus is one of the most powerful forces that exists, yet the western world often forgets or is unaware of how powerful it is. Otherwise, why would God's people keep running around after multiple things, being too busy to sit and spend time with the Lord, and yet for all their busyness, not seeing the Kingdom of God manifest in their lives? Something does not add up.

This story is about the tree which doesn't bear fruit in our lives. You know, the one that keeps getting put on the New Years resolution list year after year, and just doesn't seem to ever get accomplished. Yet what was the answer given here? It wasn't to cut it down or give up on it. It was to give it special attention and plenty of fertilizer. In other words, the gardener was going to focus on it and nurture it. He was going to put good things into the ground so that this tree would grow.

Well guess what! We are the gardeners of our own hearts and the our hearts are the soil (see Mark 4). If we will stop and tend the tree which is not bearing fruit, we can expect that it will start to bear it. And in fact, these scriptures would also tell us that it should never take more than a year for an area of promise to manifest in our lives, if we're focusing on it.

We focus on it with our time, our attention and our actions, by keeping our eyes on ONE THING. You can only walk in one direction at a time. Whatever you are focussed on is the journey you will take. If you're trying to look everywhere at the same time, you'll go nowhere! You may have heard the saying that, 'The man who chases two rabits catches none.' When we try to run after multiple things at the same time, or receive multiple revelations at the same time, we end up not making any progress. One of our biggest enemies is divided focus and if we fall prey to it we'll find ourself sacrificing the great for the sake of the good.

I know, I know, there's so many areas of your life in which you need to see victory - and urgently! I've been there and felt that. I've also discovered that no matter how urgent every area is, there's always one area which underpins the others, and if you don't focus everything on getting that one area sorted, nothing will ultimately ever get sorted.

There is only one point on an arrow head. If you want to cut through something that looks like an impenetrable wall, you need to put all of your attention and energy into that one place.

The Power of Strategy

If you want to walk in realms of the Kingdom that others do not walk in, you will need to be willing to do what others aren't willing to do!

Would you spend 40 days per year immersing yourself in faith? What if it was the difference between you walking in the victory of the abundant, John 10:10 life and living in the promised land... or living in survival for the rest of your days? Would you spend an hour per day for four months, focussed on prospering your heart in the one area so that you could finally get that New Years resolution item off your list? I wonder if the problem really is a lack of faith, because if we truly believed that the Word would work for us if we put it to work, we'd all be finding every moment of every day that we could to immerse ourselves in it.

What if this was the one key that would turn your whole life around?

So what's the Holy Spirit strategy for getting the Word into your heart? You'll need to ask Him:

1. What is the #1 life area I need to focus on?

2. What resources (ie teaching, music, soaking, online courses, retreats) do I need?

3. What timeframe/s do I need to set aside? What do I need to remove from my life so that I have space to do it?

4. Where do you want me to do this? Where can I immerse myself either without interruption or with like-minded people?

Will people think you're fanatical? Probably! Don't worry about whether or not it's popular, just do what Holy Spirit is leading you to do. Obviously, that does not mean to neglect relationships or compromise responsibilities. But the Lord will give you a strategy which enables you to take care of what you need to take care of, and prosper your heart at the same time. For someone in a season with little ones at home, it might mean getting up an hour earlier in the mornings and staying with the one revelation until it becomes real to you and there are manifested results in your life. For another person, it might be a weekend retreat full of teaching and impartation, or a week away in a mountain cabin by yourself.

The Power of UNTIL

I believe that the people of God have yet to fully understand and walk in the breakthrough power of UNTIL! We actually aren't so convinced that the promises are true or that we're the ones who are qualified to receive them, that we can determine in our hearts to stay in a place until we see breakthrough in a situation! In reality, we're not expecting to walk in the victory or the promised land... we think it's going to take years or might never come for us, so we can't put ourseles in that position or step out in faith like that (and if that describes you, keep your eyes out for next week's blog, Victory IS for YOU!).

Yes, applying the key of immersion will require you to walk by faith - but what's the point of faith if you don't use it?

The Lord showed me that I had to have the perspective of, 'I'm staying in this place UNTIL I see the victory... until my sense of the situation and who I am has changed... until I experience the breakthrough and I'm walking in the promised land. Those who put their hands to the plow and look back are not fit for the Kingdom of God, Luke 9:62 says. In other words, only those who keep moving forward in the same furrow will see the Kingdom manifest in their lives. So be one who keeps your hands to the plow and doesn't turn aside.

How to Apply The Key of Immersion

So if you're ready to put this key to work, let's look at how to practically apply it:

1. Identify your area of focus. Remember that Holy Spirit needs to show you which area underpins all of the others... it may not be what it initially the most obvious area to you.

2. Receive your strategy. Let Holy Spirit show you how to incorporate this key of immersion into your life, and what it will look like. It will be your unique strategy for your unique breakthrough.

3. Immerse yourself UNTIL you see victory. Stay in that place of immersion until the Kingdom has manifested to you.

It's time to take this step of faith and do what you have not done before, because it will pay dividends that are beyond what you could ask or think!
